Official ABCR Meeting Minutes
February 15, 2008
The Alabama Board of Court Reporting met on Friday, February
15, 2008, in order to conduct regular Board Business. Those
present were as follows: Judge Aubrey Ford, Chair; Suzanne
Frazier, Vice-Chair; Joseph Fawal, Member; Shannon Ball,
Member; and Deanna Johnson, Member. Laura Nichols, Member;
and Sydney Frazier, Member; were not present. Also present
were Paula Scout McCaleb, Executive Director; Bettie Carmack,
Assistant Attorney General; and Shonda McQueen, Recording
Secretary.
The meeting was called to order at 10:10 a.m. with a quorum
present.
The meeting was advertised on the Secretary of State’s Web
Site and the Board Web Site, in accordance with the Open
Meetings Act.
Suzanne Frazier made a motion to approve the Minutes from
the November 30, 2007 Board Meeting, as presented. The
motion was seconded by Deanna Johnson and unanimously
approved by the Board.
At approximately 10:15 a.m., the Continuing Education (CE)
Committee Report was presented by Shannon Ball, CE Committee
Chair.
Joe Fawal made a motion to accept the CE Committee Report as
presented. The motion was seconded by Deanna Johnson and
passed unanimously by the Board.
At approximately 10:25 a.m., Joe Fawal gave the Legislative
Committee Report.
A motion was made by Suzanne Frazier to present to the
Legislature the Bill to amend Statutes relating to ABCR
including providing Temporary Licensure to New Graduates of
a Court Reporting School and the recommendations from the
Department of Examiners of Public Accounts, as presented.
The motion was seconded by Shannon Ball and passed
unanimously by the Board.
Joe Fawal made a motion to put an Example of a Certificate
Page on the ABCR Web Site. The motion was seconded by
Suzanne Frazier and passed unanimously by the Board.
At approximately 10:50 a.m., the Executive Director Report
was presented by Paula Scout McCaleb.
The time being 11:35 a.m. and there being no further Board
business, the meeting was adjourned. The Chairman announced
that the next scheduled meeting of the Board was scheduled
for May16, 2008.
